It is a fascinating time to be a fan of Android phones. Apple is not for some people because there is less variety between phone models, and the iPhone X may be too expensive for its high tech offerings. However, there are future and current Android phones worth waiting for, or buying now, depending on your wants and needs.
Now that Nokia is not tied to Microsoft, it is busy producing smartphones with operating systems desired by its users. It is probable that the Nokia 8 and premium Nokia 9 will feature edge to edge display, Android 7.1 “Nougat,” and two vertical cameras later this year. Other features include a Qualcomm “Snapdragon” 835 processor, with eight cores and 2.5GHZ CPU. Also included will be an “Adreno” 540 GPU plus 128GB of storage and 6GB of RAM. This September, the Nokia 8 may be pre-ordered in Europe, but there is no release date yet for Nokia 9.
HTC U11 EYEs
HTC is known for being a great Android smartphone maker. The U11 family of phones from 2017 is soon to see the “U11 EYEs.” This model is rumored to have 4GB of RAM, a 6-inch 2,160 by 1,080 screen, and a water resistant body. It also has a “Snapdragon” 652 processor that runs Android “Nougat.” This smartphone is named for its stand-out feature of two cameras that face the front of the phone, forming the phone’s “eyes.” The specs of the cameras are not known yet, or what the cameras add to the phone, but HTC will possibly reveal that soon.
Asus Zenfone Max Plus M1
Since “unlocked” phones have become popular, customers have had to accept that the price for such a phone has gone up with regularity. However, the upcoming Asus “Zenfone Max Plus M1” promises a borderline premium smartphone experience for under $250. Not everyone needs to or can afford to spend $1000 on a smartphone. Asus has created a modern tech device in the M1 that can scan your face or finger and has a 5.7-inch screen, 3GB of RAM, and an 18:9 aspect ratio with a metal body.
Honor View 10
For less than $500, this unlocked phone offers many features that even have tech magazines excited. The “Honor View 10” has a 6-inch 2,160 by 1,080 LCD screen, 16MP and 20MP cameras, a metal unibody, and 128GB of internal storage. It runs the Android “Oreo” version of Huawei’s EMUI 8.0, using a processor called “Kirin 970.” The most interesting feature is a neural processing unit, which uses AI for things like adjusting subject photo settings and translating languages at a faster rate. This smartphone promises a large amount of power for its price range.
Some people have wondered if Blackberry was going to survive after modern smartphones blasted by them in power and key features. However, its modern phones seem to be keeping up, including the “KeyOne” for example.
The Blackberry “Motion” has already been released in many markets, and promises to continue Blackberry’s reputation for good smartphones. It features a textured metal body, an 1080p 5.5-inch scratch-resistant screen, a “Snapdragon” 625 processor, a 12MP and 8MP camera, 4GB of RAM, and 32GB of storage. Other features include customized software, a password manager, and a privacy locker that hides files from the cloud. This smartphone runs Android 7.1.1.
